KataGo that runs offline on your phone
Go AI runs KataGo, a neural network Go engine, directly on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. Moves are calculated on the device, not on a server, so you can play Go on a plane, on the subway, or anywhere without a signal.
What works without a connection
After installation, these keep working offline:
- Games against the AI on 9×9, 13×13 and 19×19 boards
- Training problems
- Game review, with the win-rate graph and candidate moves
What still needs a connection
Purchases and configuration updates need a connection. When the app starts online it may download a small configuration file, and it sends usage data unless you turn that off in Settings → Privacy → Usage Data. Your game records and moves are not uploaded. The Privacy Policy has the details.
What is KataGo?
KataGo is an open-source Go engine built on a neural network and trained through self-play. Strong players use it widely to study the game. Go AI also includes KataGo's Human SL model, which learned from human games. See how the AI levels work.
Which devices it runs on
Go AI is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad (iOS 15.1 or later) and on Google Play for Android.
